Nintendo has unveiled the newest round of weekly challenges for the recently released Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
This high-intensity retro celebration gives players the chance to test their speedrunning skills across memorable moments from 13 iconic NES games, delivering fresh content and competitive opportunities for fans of classic Nintendo titles.
From now until April 14 at 1:59 a.m.
PT, players can participate in five featured events: 'Run for Your Money' (Super Mario Bros), 'Octorok Onslaught' (The Legend of Zelda), 'Meta-Knights Strike' (Kirby's Adventure), 'Cliff Jumping' (Zelda II: The Adventure of Link), and 'Curtain Call: Roy' (Super Mario Bros.

Once live, these challenges become a global proving ground, inviting players to showcase their skills, compete for top times, and climb the rankings in competitive speedrunning scenarios inspired by Nintendo’s most beloved franchises.
In a statement published via official Nintendo channels, the company encourages participants to compare their scores with others, both globally and within their birth year cohort.
Players are able to view replays of leading runs for each challenge, offering valuable insights and techniques to help improve their own performance on subsequent attempts.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition was launched for the Nintendo Switch and celebrates more than 150 timed challenges extracted from legendary NES titles, including Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Kirby's Adventure, and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
The game offers multiple ways to compete, allowing players to test themselves against rivals worldwide through online play (with a Nintendo Switch Online membership), compete in local couch co-op sessions, or strive to beat their own personal bests.
In keeping with best practices and online functionality, it is important to note that a Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and a Nintendo Account are required to take part in online features.
The membership automatically renews unless canceled and may not be available in all regions.
