The original Tomodachi Life franchise launched on Nintendo 3DS and remains one of Nintendo’s quirky social-simulation properties; this new Living The Dream release is being supported on Nintendo’s current online platform with collectible profile items.
According to the Switch Online update, the first wave of Tomodachi Life icons is available now and will remain on the service through April 22 at 5:59 p.m.
Pacific Time.
Nintendo has indicated that subsequent waves will release weekly after the initial drop.
The service lists six character icons in the first wave available for 10 Platinum Points each: Five speech bubbles, Carbonara, Sushi, Tacos, Cracker, and Canelé.
In addition to icons, five themed backgrounds and five profile frames are offered for 5 Platinum Points apiece.
A site announcement celebrating the release was paraphrased to explain the promotion: Nintendo is celebrating Living The Dream’s launch by adding new Tomodachi Life icons, backgrounds, and frames to the Nintendo Switch Online catalog, available to redeem with Platinum Points for a limited time.
How to redeem: Platinum Points are part of Nintendo’s My Nintendo rewards ecosystem and can be spent on small digital items such as Switch Online profile icons and themes.
Players should redeem desired icons, backgrounds, and frames before individual waves expire to avoid missing limited-time offerings.
This rollout is part of Nintendo’s broader approach to supporting Switch Online members with periodic cosmetic drops and retro content.
The Nintendo Switch platform launched in 2017 and Nintendo continues to use Switch Online and My Nintendo to distribute companion content, profile items, and retro library access.
Fans interested in Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream and the Switch Online additions should check the Nintendo Switch Online app or the eShop for the latest availability and redemption details.
