RPG: The Misty Battlefield – Release Date & Physical Edition Details for Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Switch players can prepare for a fresh blend of strategy and deckbuilding as developer Acquire officially confirmed the launch date for their latest title, C.A.R.D.S.
RPG: The Misty Battlefield.
Announced in 2023, this innovative game combining roguelike deckbuilding mechanics with strategic role-playing elements (SRPG) will arrive on the Nintendo Switch eShop on May 23, 2024, offering English and Japanese voice options for global fans.
A New Genre Fusion from Acquire
Acquire, recognized for their distinctive contributions to the Japanese RPG landscape, has developed C.A.R.D.S.
RPG: The Misty Battlefield as a unique hybrid that aims to redefine expectations within the genre.
The game casts players as members of the Clausewitz Battalion, thrust onto a battlefield veiled in mist.
Strategic exploration and tactical combat shape each session, as players seek and enhance new cards to construct ever-evolving decks, setting the stage for battle against increasingly formidable opponents.
A World Shaped by War and Chimeras
The narrative follows a kingdom torn apart by the arrival of a jet-black dragon during the century-long conflict known as the 100 Years’ War.
The enemy nation Fahftania, in conjunction with the powerful Hellmuth Brigade, sacrifices thousands of citizens to craft a fearsome chimera, tilting the balance of power dramatically.
As scout Seth Arden uncovers the extent of Fahftania’s inhumane experiments, Captain Vel Dina leads the Clausewitz Battalion on a mission to halt the creation of these terror-inducing chimeras—even as the entire land falls under the dark organization’s control.
Innovative Gameplay – Roguelike Deckbuilding Meets SRPG
C.A.R.D.S.
RPG: The Misty Battlefield stands out for merging SRPG-style tactical combat with a deep, roguelike card-battling system.
Players will explore fog-shrouded maps, revealing enemies, facilities, and equipment as they progress.
With over 50 uniquely designed cards available, decks can be customized for each stage, offering a dynamic and adaptive battle experience.
Winning encounters hinges not only on character positioning and turn-based tactics but also on the player’s deck composition—each card can tip the scales in unexpected ways.
The game’s developers have emphasized that the fusion of turn-based tactical battles with engaging deckbuilding gives players a wealth of strategic options, with every map bringing fresh encounters and challenges.
"Carefully curating your decks and adapting your tactics for each new battleground is key to overcoming powerful foes," the studio shared in their official communications.
Stellar Voice Cast and Multilingual Support
The Clausewitz Battalion’s voice cast includes industry veterans such as Lynn (Captain Vel Dina), Takeo Otsuka (Leon Haith), Hiroki Yasumoto (Alex Galleon), Chiwa Saito (Lily Maple), Atsumi Tanezaki (Seth Arden), Yuuichirou Umehara (Erik Lapide), Nobuhiko Okamoto (Jade Shadowclaw), and Karin Takahashi (Ann Clausen).
Players can fully enjoy the game’s narrative in either Japanese or English, expanding its accessibility to a worldwide audience.
