Polycast Labs has confirmed that its 90s‑inspired platformer collectathon Bobo and the Chest of Nightmares will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 30, 2026.

Developed by David Ho as a solo project under the Polycast Labs banner, the title blends acrobatic platforming, light combat and secret hunting inside a Tim Burton‑inspired carnival of dreams.

The developer released an official gameplay trailer alongside the platform announcement.

Bobo and the Chest of Nightmares puts players in the role of Bobo, a jester who accidentally frees an ancient entity called the DreamMaster after opening the legendary Nightmare Chest.

The resulting twilight realm is populated by corrupted spirits and lost EchoMares; players must recover those EchoMares to restore joy to the fractured kingdom.

The design emphasizes mobility over brute force: double‑jumps, wall‑slides and umbrella glides are core traversal tools from the opening moments of the game.

Polycast Labs describes the title as a love letter to the era of mascot platformers, with a semi‑open hub called the Twilight Circus that houses Twilight Shards, upgrade‑driven Nightmare Wisps and hidden Voodoo Dolls.

Players can approach realms in any order, solve environmental puzzles, and face large boss encounters that culminate each world.

Mechanics such as stacking DreamMasks for visualized health and triggering a temporary invulnerable "Dreamburst" state are part of the combat and survival systems.

Developed in a single year by David Ho, Bobo and the Chest of Nightmares has earned a notable regional milestone: the DeVuego database, which tracks Iberian video game productions, recognizes it as the first commercially released 3D platformer collectathon produced in Portugal.

The game will be sold as a digital download on Nintendo Switch, making it available via Nintendo's storefront for players who prefer digital purchases.

Speaking about the project, Polycast Labs founder David Ho said he didn't simply aim to build a game but sought to revive the feeling of late‑1990s platformers; he called bringing Bobo to Nintendo Switch a dream realized and described the console as a natural home for a 3D collectathon that players can enjoy at home or on the go.

The official gameplay trailer accompanies the announcement and offers the clearest look yet at the Twilight Circus hub and the game's platforming systems.

For fans tracking Nintendo Switch news, Bobo and the Chest of Nightmares is now scheduled for October 30, 2026; further distribution and storefront details will be confirmed ahead of launch.
