Bloober Team Announces Project M: A Major Nintendo Switch Collaboration with Leading Creators
Bloober Team, widely recognized for its psychological horror titles, has officially unveiled its latest endeavor, tentatively known as Project M.
The announcement, which came via an interview with Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno, points to a significant expansion of the studio’s portfolio on Nintendo platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.
With a track record that includes celebrated games such as Layers of Fear, Observer, Blair Witch, and the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake in partnership with Konami, Bloober Team's latest project is generating considerable attention within the gaming industry.
In the interview, Piotr Babieno emphasized Project M's importance to Bloober Team's long-term strategic goals, despite its relatively smaller budget compared to the studio's larger titles.
He elaborated, indicating that Project M holds a unique place in the company’s roadmap.
"While Project M’s budget is more modest than our other productions, its significance for our future plans is immense," Babieno stated.
He further revealed that the project is being developed "in cooperation with the world’s best game creators for Nintendo platforms," underscoring the studio’s commitment to quality.
Babieno explained that it is not enough to simply deliver a competent game; the expectations set by this collaboration require an exceptional final product.
Rumors have been circulating regarding a direct partnership between Bloober Team and Nintendo on this title.
However, Babieno’s remarks, while pointing to notable collaboration, stop short of confirming any direct Nintendo co-development.
The specifics of the relationship remain undisclosed, but the involvement of esteemed Nintendo platform creators promises a high-profile release.
Project M’s announcement coincides with Nintendo’s recent teaser for a new project called Emio, leading to speculation among industry watchers about a possible connection between the two.
At this stage, there is no confirmation linking Project M with Emio, and both projects remain shrouded in mystery.
Nonetheless, the timing has fueled excitement within the gaming community, particularly among Nintendo Switch users and horror gaming fans.
Since its inception, Bloober Team has carved out a niche in the horror genre.
Their previous titles, including Layers of Fear and its sequel, along with Observer and Blair Witch, have set new standards for atmospheric storytelling and innovative gameplay.
In 2023, the studio further cemented its reputation by collaborating with Konami on the eagerly anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2, one of the most iconic horror games in history.
As Project M continues its development, fans can expect updates through official channels such as upcoming Nintendo Direct presentations or the eShop.
This collaboration signifies Bloober Team’s ongoing commitment to delivering groundbreaking experiences to the Nintendo Switch platform.
With its proven expertise and a partnership with top-tier Nintendo creators, Project M is poised to become a standout entry in both Bloober Team’s catalog and the Nintendo Switch’s growing library of third-party titles.
