Bloober Team, renowned for its expertise in the horror game genre, has achieved notable success with Cronos: The New Dawn on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Launching at the beginning of September, Cronos: The New Dawn surprised many within the industry by carving out a distinct identity in the crowded survival horror market.
While it might not be hailed as a genre-defining title, the game has nevertheless received largely positive reviews from critics and fans, particularly for its performance on the Switch 2 hardware.
Recent feedback from Bloober Team's leadership further highlights the positive trajectory of Cronos: The New Dawn.
In an investor discussion, CEO Piotr Babieno and Vice President Karolina Nowak described the launch of Cronos as a "huge success," crediting the majority of the game's sales to its console editions.
Although the studio has not disclosed precise sales figures or detailed data regarding Switch 2 performance, the executives confirmed that physical copies have sold out in numerous regions.
They noted, however, that the retail release has been intentionally limited in scope compared to other major titles.
Addressing plans for future content, Bloober Team clarified that there are currently no plans to develop DLC expansions or a full sequel for Cronos: The New Dawn.
However, the company signaled its intention to expand upon the intellectual property in the long run, emphasizing a desire to develop the brand "in various fields of exploitation." According to the Bloober Team leadership, the group behind Cronos is already engaged in a new project, yet the studio maintains high hopes for further growth and exploration of the Cronos universe down the line.
As Cronos: The New Dawn maintains momentum on Nintendo Switch 2, Bloober Team's immediate priority has shifted to developing the highly anticipated Silent Hill remake for Konami.
This new project, commissioned following the studio's acclaimed work on Silent Hill 2, underscores Bloober's rising stature within the industry.
Silent Hill 2 currently stands as a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 5—but that exclusivity period is set to expire soon, potentially opening the door for a future appearance on Switch 2, though neither developer nor publisher has made official announcements regarding additional platforms.
Bloober Team's recent achievements with Cronos: The New Dawn and its ongoing partnership with Konami for Silent Hill showcase the developer's growing influence in the survival horror space.
As the Switch 2 continues to attract diverse and high-quality releases, industry watchers will be keenly interested in Bloober Team's next steps, both for its original IPs and its notable collaborations.
