Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed it is examining whether performance improvements introduced in the Nintendo Switch 2 release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered can be applied to other platforms.
Oblivion Remastered first launched in April 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC and has been criticized for performance issues; those versions have not received a new patch since July 2025.
The Nintendo Switch 2 edition launched alongside Patch 1.0 for the platform on August 11, which bundled a lengthy list of fixes and improvements.
What Bethesda announced
In a post on X, Bethesda acknowledged player requests for another update to Oblivion Remastered and said it is investigating optimizations present in the Nintendo Switch 2 build for inclusion on other platforms.
Rephrasing Bethesda’s statement in journalistic terms: the studio said it has heard community feedback asking for an additional patch and is actively reviewing the Switch 2 version’s technical refinements with an eye toward bringing those changes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, and that it will provide further details when available.
Patch 1.0 and the Switch 2 release
Patch 1.0 accompanied the Nintendo Switch 2 release on August 11 and listed a broad range of fixes and improvements for the Nintendo port.
Bethesda’s confirmation that some of those optimizations are under review suggests the studio is using the Switch 2 release as a technical reference point for future updates on other platforms.
It is not yet confirmed whether the Switch 2 version itself will receive further patches in the near term.
Why this matters
Players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC who experienced performance problems with the April 2025 release have been awaiting additional fixes since July 2025.
If Bethesda elects to backport Switch 2 optimizations, patch notes for future updates will be the definitive source for what changes arrive on each platform.
For now, Bethesda’s X account remains the primary channel for official patch announcements.
