Clouded Leopard Entertainment has officially announced that it will take on publishing duties for the acclaimed prison break thriller RPG 'Back to the Dawn' on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
This highly anticipated port, developed originally by Metal Head Games, is slated for release in 2026, expanding its reach to a broader console audience through the Nintendo platform and the digital eShop.
Originally crafted by Metal Head Games, 'Back to the Dawn' is an immersive RPG centering on a gripping prison-escape narrative, layered with themes of crime, conspiracy, and complex character relationships.
Players are thrust into the shoes of various animal inmates, each fighting for survival, justice, and ultimately, freedom.
As you explore the unforgiving world behind bars, you will plan daring escapes, forge intricate relationships, and confront the harsh realities of a corrupt prison system.
The Nintendo Switch and upcoming Switch 2 versions will feature extensive localization improvements across all subtitle languages.
In addition, Clouded Leopard Entertainment has confirmed the introduction of brand-new Japanese and Chinese voice acting, enhancing the immersive experience for players across different regions.
"We've prioritized delivering a comprehensive and authentic localization, including newly recorded Japanese and Chinese voiceovers, to ensure global players experience the game's full depth," a representative from Clouded Leopard Entertainment explained.
Key features of 'Back to the Dawn' include a richly cinematic, hardboiled story inspired by classic crime dramas.
Players can choose between two protagonists—a wrongfully convicted journalist or an undercover investigator—navigating a world rife with corruption and peril.
The main campaign offers more than 20 hours of gameplay for each protagonist, complemented by three powerful gangs, 47 distinctive inmate characters, and over 100 meticulously crafted quests.
The title’s open-ended progression system encourages diverse playstyles, from stealthy infiltration to domineering combat, and offers multiple escape routes and branching endings for high replayability.
With an expansive script exceeding one million characters and an array of hidden conspiracies, the game promises a deeply engaging RPG experience on both Switch and Switch 2 hardware.
Players will have an opportunity to preview 'Back to the Dawn' at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, held at the Konami Digital Entertainment booth between September 25 and September 28, ahead of its full Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 launch in 2026.
