Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Demo Set for Nintendo Switch 2 Launch by End of Year
Square Enix has officially confirmed that players will soon have an early opportunity to experience Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2.
In a recent interview with Inverse, the game's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, announced that a playable demo will be available for Nintendo’s new-generation console before the end of the year.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, a highly acclaimed action RPG from Square Enix, is the enhanced edition of the 2020 hit remaking the iconic PlayStation classic.
Released initially for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Intergrade features improved graphics, optimized performance, and the additional "Episode INTERmission" content starring Yuffie Kisaragi.
The move to Nintendo Switch 2 marks an important milestone for the franchise and signals Square Enix’s ongoing commitment to supporting multiple platforms, including the eShop and competing hardware like Xbox.
According to Hamaguchi, bringing a hands-on preview to Switch owners is a key step: "A demo is scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox systems at the end of this year.
We think it will be particularly helpful for players who are still undecided, giving them a chance to experience the game for themselves," he shared in paraphrased remarks.
He further emphasized that the demo will let players "experience the full technical capabilities" offered by the upgraded hardware of the Switch 2.
Square Enix has also confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will deliver stable performance on Nintendo’s new console, targeting a consistent 30 frames per second while maintaining crisp visual quality.
This addresses one of the main concerns for fans—ensuring a smooth and immersive gameplay experience on Switch 2.
Last month, the developer assured that the Switch 2 version would run at this stable frame rate, and early technical showcases have indicated that the game will take advantage of the system’s updated specs for both visuals and load times.
The demo will provide a practical taste of these enhancements, allowing undecided fans to evaluate firsthand before investing in the full release.
With Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade’s demo arriving before year’s end, anticipation continues to mount for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
As Square Enix prepares for its debut on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, this launch reinforces the company’s evolving multiplatform strategy and its trust in the future of the Nintendo ecosystem.
Stay tuned for more updates as Square Enix announces further details or formalizes the demo’s exact release date on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
