Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 3.0.1 Enhances Experience on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has announced the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 3.0.1, a significant game update now available for players on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Following the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Switch 2 Edition in January 2026, this latest patch focuses on improving the gameplay experience and resolving a range of technical issues across both platforms. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, developed by Nintendo, has consistently been one of the best-selling titles on the Nintendo Switch, celebrated for its charming life-simulation mechanics and regular post-launch support.

The game's expansion to the new Nintendo Switch 2 hardware last month was accompanied by both a paid upgrade for current owners and the free 3.0 update, introducing fresh content and features for all players.

Version 3.0.1 builds upon this momentum with targeted fixes and gameplay adjustments. According to Nintendo’s official support documentation, the latest update addresses several gameplay and technical issues.

For users on either the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, the update resolves an issue where the game could slow down after leaving the island hotel and venturing outdoors.

It also corrects a bug affecting the cleanup feature: if players asked Resetti to tidy the island, fences stored or put away could change customizations, be duplicated, or even vanish.

Additionally, the patch fixes a problem where Timmy and Tommy would sometimes stop following the player inside Nook’s Cranny, and resolves a glitch where items could unexpectedly pop out of rocks during routine gameplay actions. Other updates ensure the home remodeling or relocation options are always accessible even after multiplayer sessions on slumber islands, and prevent the Camera app installation sequence from appearing incorrectly when using the Island Designer license feature at Nook Stop.

Several items had been displaying incorrectly in the in-game catalog for both photo studios and hotel decorating, which has also now been addressed.

Nintendo notes that further adjustments and corrections have been made to enhance the overall gameplay experience for all users. The update delivers specific improvements for Nintendo Switch 2 users as well.

Notably, it resolves a visual issue where clouds on the island could appear misaligned near the horizon, impacting the sky's clarity and natural appearance.

Additionally, controller vibration intensity has been tuned to better match the experience found on the original Nintendo Switch, providing a consistent tactile response across hardware platforms. This latest patch underscores Nintendo's commitment to supporting Animal Crossing: New Horizons post-launch, ensuring stability and a high-quality experience as the player base migrates to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The Version 3.0.1 update is available now via the Nintendo eShop for all Switch and Switch 2 owners.

For those interested, Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Switch 2 Edition remains a paid upgrade filled with enhancements tailored to Nintendo's newest console. In related news, Nintendo has also released recent updates for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, reinforcing the company's ongoing efforts to maintain and evolve its flagship titles across the Nintendo Switch family.
