Baskin-Robbins and Nintendo have announced a month-long collaboration in Japan that ties the world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons to limited-run ice cream items and in-game content.

The promotion runs at Baskin-Robbins outlets across Japan from July 1 through July 31 and coincides with continued interest in Nintendo’s life-sim hit on Nintendo Switch.

The collaboration centers on a new seasonal flavor called “Summer Island Feast,” designed to evoke the distinct zones of Animal Crossing: New Horizons — forest, beach and ocean.

Decorated with fish-shaped chocolates modeled on the game’s sea creature silhouettes, the flavor is billed as a celebration of the island-setting aesthetic that New Horizons popularized since its March 20, 2020 release on Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo EPD developed Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Nintendo publishes the title for the platform.

Baskin-Robbins is also offering a lineup of themed products and collectibles.

The “Tanuki Development Special Double Cup” features Tom Nook and family artwork, includes an Animal Crossing flag pick, and comes with a rubber keychain of Timmy and Tommy.

A “Single Sundae” is presented in a gift box inspired by the floating present balloons from the games, while a “Double Sundae” takes cues from friendly ghost Wisp and a nighttime island motif.

A “Special Set” allows customers to take home eight scoops in a Bell Bag-styled lunch bag.

Additional items listed for the promotion include “Gulliver’s Washed-Ashore Blue Soda,” a variety character box, and an ice cream cake kit that lets buyers decorate a cake with Animal Crossing-themed picks.

Nintendo confirmed that customers who buy collaborative products in-store and perform a GPS check-in through the Nintendo Store smartphone app will receive a special sticker as part of the promotion.

Nintendo also stated that players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be able to visit a Baskin-Robbins-themed island in-game; the island code will be published on July 1, the same day the real-world collaboration begins.

This promotion underscores Nintendo’s frequent cross-promotional activity around Animal Crossing and offers Switch owners a blend of physical merchandise and in-game content accessible through the Nintendo Store app.

The collaboration runs exclusively at Baskin-Robbins locations in Japan from July 1 to July 31.
