Description

Renowned Sega artist Shinichi "Touma" Higashi, best known for his work on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, is once again collaborating with Sega to delight fans and collectors.

Higashi, the original designer of Fang the Sniper from the 1994 Game Gear classic "Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble," has announced a brand-new series of officially licensed Sonic vinyl figures, scheduled for release in Japan this Winter. Higashi's long-standing relationship with Sega began in 1993, where he contributed his artistic talents to a diverse portfolio of titles including "Sonic Chaos," "Sonic Drift," "Tails Adventure," "Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island" for Sega Saturn, "Sonic Jam," and the genre-defining "Sonic Adventure." Beyond Sonic, his creative reach extended to other notable Sega franchises, such as "NiGHTS into Dreams," "Burning Rangers," and "Skies of Arcadia." After departing Sega in 2001, Higashi established himself as a freelance designer, founding TOUMART Inc.

in 2005.

TOUMART now joins forces with Sega and T-Base Toy on this collector-focused initiative. Yesterday, Higashi took to social media to express his enthusiasm for this new collaboration, describing the upcoming vinyl series as a deeply meaningful project for him.

In his statement, Higashi outlined that the debut wave will comprise ten meticulously crafted figures, featuring prominent characters such as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Metal Sonic, and Dr.

Eggman.

Rounding out the lineup are fan-favorites and lesser-seen faces: Mighty, Ray, Trip, and Fang—the latter holding special significance as Higashi’s self-described "firstborn son." Each vinyl figure will measure approximately 4.3 inches (11 cm) in height, offering fans a premium-quality collectible.

The first public viewing of this highly anticipated lineup will take place at Designer Con 2025, held at the World Market Center in Las Vegas from November 14th to 16th.

While the initial release is confirmed for Japan, discussions are underway regarding potential expansion into the U.S.

market to meet overseas demand. Sonic the Hedgehog’s enduring legacy continues to thrive not only through new video games on platforms like the Nintendo Switch and ongoing presence in the eShop, but also through exclusive merchandise that celebrates the series’ vibrant history.

With Shinichi Higashi’s artistic vision at the helm, this new collection promises to be a must-have for Sonic enthusiasts and collectors alike.
