Krikzz, the developer behind the EverDrive line of retro flash carts, has announced the EverDrive-64 Pro, a new cartridge for the Nintendo 64 that the company says ships within the next few weeks.
The Pro is positioned as an evolution of the existing EverDrive-64 X7 and brings several hardware and feature upgrades aimed at collectors, developers and N64 enthusiasts.
According to the announcement, the EverDrive-64 Pro upgrades the X7 architecture with a faster Cyclone 10 FPGA chipset and expanded memory, delivering 128 MB SDRAM (1024 Mbit).
The device also introduces higher-speed USB data transfer and native support for the 64DD, Nintendo's Japan-only magnetic rewritable disc peripheral for the N64.
The Pro's verified feature set includes real-time clock (RTC) support; compatibility with all Game Pak save types (SRAM, EEPROM, FlashRAM); built-in cheat code support; Controller Pak and Transfer Pak management; IPS/APS auto-patching for ROMs; custom menu themes and ROM metadata support; and battery voltage monitoring.
The cartridge also incorporates an FPGA-based NES core, support for external emulators, an on-board button for 64DD disk swapping and cheats, and a high-speed USB port intended to facilitate development and faster file transfers.
