Ys Collection Physical Release Announced by D4 Enterprise for Japan: Classic Nihon Falcom Titles Return to PC

D4 Enterprise, renowned for its dedication to retro gaming through initiatives such as Project EGG and EGGCONSOLE, has announced a new physical Ys Collection that will celebrate the legacy of Nihon Falcom's iconic action-RPG series.

Set for release in Japan in 2026, this premium anthology targets Windows 10 and 11 platforms, offering fans an opportunity to revisit the roots of one of gaming’s most influential franchises.

The Ys Collection is available now for pre-order through D4 Enterprise's AC-Mall, as confirmed by industry source Famitsu. This comprehensive set includes multiple editions of the first three Ys titles—originally launched on the PC-88 in the late 1980s—and Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand, which debuted on the SNES and was later reissued for PlayStation 2.

With this release, D4 Enterprise aims to deliver an authentic experience reminiscent of the series' early era, featuring packaging designed to evoke the style of the 1980s and 1990s.

Collectors will also appreciate the inclusion of reprinted game manuals for each title. The confirmed lineup for the Ys Collection is as follows: - Ys (PC-8801SR / PC-9801 / X1 / FM-7 / FM77AV / MSX2) - Ys II (PC-8801SR / PC-9801 / X1 / FM77AV / MSX2) - Ys III (PC-8801SR / PC-9801 / X68000 / MSX2) - Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand (Consumer Version) The omission of the fourth entry, Ys IV, is due to D4 Enterprise’s focus on games developed or published exclusively by Nihon Falcom.

This decision means Hudson Soft’s Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys for the PC Engine CD-ROM² and Tonkin House’s Super Famicom title Ys IV: Mask of the Sun are not part of the release.

According to D4 Enterprise, the compilation is curated to reflect the titles most closely tied to Falcom's direct development and publishing history. The complete collection is priced at ¥28,160 (including tax), equating to approximately £149 or $200 USD.

While this release is currently exclusive to the Japanese market and there has been no announcement regarding a Western version, it’s notable that several PC-88 and MSX entries from the series are accessible in the West via the EGGCONSOLE series, available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. This physical Ys Collection stands as both a tribute to Nihon Falcom’s enduring RPG legacy and an exciting addition for collectors and dedicated fans of classic Japanese gaming.
