Originally released for the SEGA Dreamcast in Japan in 2000, Jet Set Radio is renowned for its energetic street culture, stylish visuals, and unforgettable soundtrack, elements that continue to influence modern gaming and inspire devoted communities globally.
The anniversary celebration spotlights this enduring legacy with an immersive, week-long experience at Brain Dead Studios’ Fairfax Avenue location.
The Jet Set Radio 25th Anniversary event will unfold from June 13th through June 20th, transforming Los Angeles into a haven for roller-skating game enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Sega, alongside Brain Dead Studios and NTS, promises a packed program featuring a vibrant mix of exclusive merchandise drops, gaming lounges, art installations, DJ sets, and the opportunity to interact with key figures behind the game’s creation.
Kicking off on June 13th, a special limited-ticket event will reward the first 100 attendees with exclusive Jet Set Radio items.
The day’s programming includes a retrospective screening and Q&A with Jet Set Radio director Masayoshi Kikuchi, lead artist Ryuta Ueda, Brain Dead Studios’ Kyle Ng, and ThemSkates’ Jon Julio.
In a statement, organizers highlighted the rare gathering of creative talents, offering fans direct insights into the making of Jet Set Radio and its cross-disciplinary influence.
Attendees will have the chance to play the original Jet Set Radio at the SEGA Dreamcast gaming lounge, browse an unvaulted JSR art gallery showcasing rare pieces from the archives of Kikuchi and Ueda, and try their hand at a floor-to-ceiling canvas tagging wall.
Throughout the week, the celebration expands with public access beginning June 14th.
Daily highlights include exclusive Jet Set Radio x Brain Dead and Jet Set Radio x ThemSkates merchandise, available for both immediate purchase and pre-order.
The event also features live DJ performances from the legendary DJ Professor K, broadcasting directly from a pirate radio booth in collaboration with NTS and later archived for online listening.
Not to be missed, a custom airbrush station by Sob Story allows fans to walk away with one-of-a-kind K-inspired memorabilia.
From June 15th through June 20th, the festivities continue with ongoing access to the gaming lounge, art gallery, and tagging wall, along with nightly film screenings curated by the creators and partners.
On June 20th, the celebration concludes with a special Q&A following a screening of 'Prayer of the Roller Boys,' providing an in-depth look at the film’s influence on Jet Set Radio’s creative direction.
