The announcement follows the earlier reveal of Twinkle Girl and arrives alongside new gameplay and systems information ahead of the title's 2027 launch on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
At TGS, Capcom confirmed several core gameplay features.
Proto Man will return as a playable character alongside Mega Man, offering distinct abilities that create two different playstyles for players to choose from.
Capcom described Proto Man as a wandering warrior whose unique move set provides alternative approaches to stage challenges.
Capcom also detailed the game's new Override system.
In plain terms, Override grants robots a temporary surge of power beyond their normal capabilities; however, Capcom warned that the boost comes with a trade-off.
When Override expires, players will experience a short-term performance penalty, making timing and management of the mechanic a strategic element of combat.
Another headline feature is the Custom Chip System.
Capcom explained this personalization layer lets players install Custom Chips to modify Mega Man and Proto Man with supplementary abilities.
Examples cited by the developer include rapid-fire, a protective shield bubble, and hover capabilities.
The system is intended to encourage experimentation with chip combinations to support individual playstyles.
Twinkle Girl, previously announced as one of the eight new Robot Masters, was highlighted again for her firework-themed, incendiary attacks.
Capcom reiterated the series staple that defeating Robot Masters allows players to acquire and convert their abilities into special weapons.
The developer also noted that special weapons consume energy when used, making resource management an important consideration.
The new Jet Man trailer debuted at TGS 2026 and includes a brief shot of another Robot Master whose design appears visually similar to Astro Man from Mega Man 8.
Capcom has confirmed Mega Man: Dual Override will launch on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
Further details, including full Robot Master lineups and release windows, are expected from Capcom in the run-up to the game's release.
