To mark the highly anticipated launch of Nintendo Switch 2, Game Freak and Nintendo have activated a special 7 Star Porygon2 Tera Raid Battle event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
This new raid, which is now live, offers trainers the chance to take on Porygon2 until June 16.
In addition to the Tera Raid, players can encounter Porygon2 outbreaks with a significantly increased chance of encountering Shiny variants, elevating the excitement for both collectors and competitive battlers.
The featured raid boss, Porygon2, arrives as a Tera Normal type, leaving it vulnerable only to Fighting-type moves.
As with previous 7 Star Raids, players aiming for victory should prepare a strong strategy tailored for this unique challenge.
Notably, this event is considered one of the more accessible high-level raids in recent memory, making it an excellent opportunity for both seasoned and newer trainers to secure a coveted Porygon2 with a special Tera type.
Upon entering the battle, Porygon2 will immediately set up Trick Room, altering move order so that slower Pokémon strike first.
This mechanic, typically seen as a challenge, can work in favor of well-prepared trainers, ensuring their selected counters gain the speed advantage.
Offensively, Porygon2’s core moveset consists of Tri Attack, Psychic, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam—each capable of inflicting potential status conditions such as burn, paralysis, or freeze.
One of the top recommended counters for this raid is Iron Hands.
Trainers should opt for a Brave Nature Iron Hands, equipped with a Sitrus Berry and invested in Attack and Special Defense.
The moveset should feature Belly Drum and Drain Punch, with Iron Hands using its Tera Fighting type for maximal effectiveness.
The battle plan involves boosting Iron Hands’ Attack with Belly Drum at the onset and restoring health via Drain Punch.
It’s important to note that Porygon2 will eventually clear stat boosts, requiring additional setup.
For efficiency, battling alongside a supportive partner is advised.
Bronzong stands out as an ideal teammate for Iron Hands.
To optimize support, trainers should use a Sassy Nature Bronzong holding either Shell Bell or Light Clay, fully invested in HP and Special Defense.
Bronzong’s moves—Iron Defense, Body Press, Safeguard, and Light Screen—can be pivotal.
Opening with Light Screen and Safeguard neutralizes most of Porygon2’s offensive threats, letting Iron Hands focus on offensive setup.
Occasional healing cheers from Bronzong may be necessary to keep the party healthy, but with this partnership, the raid should be manageable for most players.
Once victorious, players can use any Poké Ball to catch Porygon2, with many opting for Great Balls to match its color scheme or Heal Balls for stylistic preference.
This exclusive 7 Star Porygon2 Tera Raid event will run until June 16, giving Pokémon Scarlet and Violet fans on Nintendo Switch ample time to participate.
Both titles remain available via the Nintendo eShop and continue to host major in-game events corresponding with key Nintendo milestones.
Trainers are encouraged to share their own raid strategies and team builds with the community, as this event presents a prime opportunity to add a powerful and rare Porygon2 to their collection.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
