Indie developer WhyKev has officially revealed that the highly anticipated 3D collectathon platformer PaperKlay is coming to Nintendo Switch.

While the precise release date remains unannounced, excitement is already building within the Nintendo community for this vibrant, hand-crafted adventure. PaperKlay is a solo-developed project by WhyKev, who serves as both developer and publisher.

The title invites players to join the lovable duo, Chick & Nugget, as they traverse a creative world built from cardboard, paper, clay, and a variety of handcrafted materials.

The aim: to explore, collect, and recover lost eggs in a gameplay experience reminiscent of classic platformer collectathons. The game boasts an impressive array of talent from across the gaming and entertainment industry.

Notably, esteemed composer Grant Kirkhope, celebrated for his work on Banjo-Kazooie and Yooka-Laylee, contributes to the game's original soundtrack.

Joining the audio team is Steven Melin (known for Dark Dice and Moonlighter), ensuring a dynamic and engaging musical experience for players.

Voice acting is equally star-studded, with industry veterans such as Kevin Miller—best remembered as Sly Cooper—bringing life to PaperKlay's whimsical cast.

Additional talent boasts credits in franchises like Five Nights at Freddy’s and Attack on Titan, further elevating the game’s production values. At its core, PaperKlay is designed as a 3D platformer collectathon.

The game distinguishes itself through its tactile and interactive environment—allowing players to open, unfold, and rotate the game world, encouraging exploration and discovery at every turn.

Players must utilize Chick’s skills, including double-jumping, dashing, sprinting, gliding, and punching, to navigate each level.

Nugget, Chick’s trusty sidekick, offers his own inventive puzzle-solving abilities, adding a layer of teamwork and creativity to the adventure. Vivid environments filled with cardboard scarecrows, the regal Pinecone King, and a myriad of craftspeople further immerse players, while the game's fully voiced characters—performed by a diverse cast of seasoned voice actors—make every encounter memorable. PaperKlay's announcement for Nintendo Switch aligns with the platform’s reputation for supporting inventive indie titles.

Though a release date has not yet been specified, the reveal trailer is already generating enthusiasm among fans of 3D platformers and handcrafted game worlds.

PaperKlay is expected to launch on the Nintendo eShop, and interested players can enjoy the official trailer for an early look at the gameplay and setting. Stay tuned to official Nintendo channels and WhyKev’s updates for future announcements on PaperKlay’s release date and availability.
