Grumpyface Studios and Oh My Me Games have officially announced that Seafrog, their inventive new action-platformer, will launch on Nintendo Switch in the first quarter of 2026.
Drawing inspiration from the energetic 3D platformers of the 1990s, Seafrog merges skateboarding-inspired movement with classic Metroidvania exploration, offering players a unique twist on the genre. Seafrog sets itself apart with its distinctive traversal mechanics—rather than skating, players zoom through sprawling derelict ships on a rocket-powered wrench.
Combining fast-paced grinding, trick chaining, and high-speed boosts with non-linear exploration, Seafrog encourages experimentation and mastery of its fluid movement system.
Players will encounter a wide variety of quirky enemies and intricate puzzles, all set against a vibrant backdrop that pays homage to the stylized visuals of '90s-era gaming. The development team has emphasized Seafrog’s replayability and depth.
According to Grumpyface Studios, the title will feature over 100 handcrafted challenges, encouraging players to discover secrets and maximize their abilities.
"With each room, we want to reward curiosity—be it through upgrades, collectibles, or unique narrative moments," said a studio representative.
Seafrog includes a modular upgrade system, allowing players to collect and combine 24 different "Mod Chips." These chips let players tailor their experience, opting for either a more relaxed journey or a challenging, speed-focused run. The adventure is designed for both newcomers and completionists.
A main story campaign is expected to last between 10 and 14 hours, featuring three boss battles that put the player’s platforming and trick skills to the test.
For those aiming for 100% completion, over 120 hidden "Snakestones" await discovery, pushing total playtime past 16 hours across all areas.
Players will also interact with a colorful cast of characters, making Seafrog a family-friendly experience suitable for all ages. In preparation for launch, Grumpyface Studios has announced a forthcoming Major 2.0 Update that will deliver extensive balance tuning, new musical tracks, narrative additions, and improved controls.
This update underscores the developers’ commitment to refining the game based on feedback and ensuring the finished product meets the high standards expected of a Nintendo Switch release. Seafrog will be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop in Q1 2026.
