IO Interactive has provided a formal update for 007 First Light, confirming a Nintendo Switch 2 release window and laying out the game’s first-year content roadmap alongside fresh sales figures.
The standalone James Bond title is already available on other platforms, and the studio says it will bring the full Bond experience to Nintendo’s next-generation handheld-console hybrid in Summer 2026.
In an official statement, IO Interactive reiterated that 007 First Light is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in Summer 2026, and emphasized the release will deliver the complete cinematic espionage adventure in both handheld and docked modes.
The studio also cautioned that specific assignments in the roadmap “may be reassigned or delayed,” underscoring that timing for some planned content remains subject to change.
The publisher detailed the game’s planned first-year content, which expands Tactical Simulator mode with new challenges and upgrades, introduces a new gadget described as the G2 Glasses, and adds features such as New Game+ and a photo mode.
IO Interactive outlined a new mission tied to the narrative: following events in Mauritania, an unexpected alliance forms between MI6 and the Pirate King Bawma, who requires Bond’s personal intervention.
To support these missions, Q is developing the Even G2 display smart glasses from manufacturer Even Realities, which IO Interactive says will open “new gameplay opportunities.”
On commercial performance, IO Interactive reported that 007 First Light sold more than 2.7 million copies in its first week on sale, following an initial 1.5 million units shifted in the first 24 hours.
Those figures were presented by the studio as part of its broader update on the title’s rollout and post-launch plans.
Separately, IO Interactive also announced new content for its Hitman franchise: a limited-time elusive target mission for Hitman World of Assassination featuring rapper Wiz Khalifa as “The Wizard.” The developer has released a trailer for that mission on YouTube.
With the Switch 2 launch penciled for Summer 2026 and a clear roadmap of post-launch content, IO Interactive is positioning 007 First Light as a cross-platform Bond experience with ongoing updates.
Nintendo Switch 2 owners can expect a full release next summer, while fans on other platforms will continue to receive the announced seasonal content and live-service-style additions as outlined by the studio.
