Nintendo of America has announced a reborn edition of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled to launch on Nov. 5, according to the company’s statement.

The original Ocarina of Time, developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, is one of the franchise’s most influential entries; this new release is being presented as an opportunity to reintroduce the title to modern hardware as part of the series’ 40th anniversary.

In its announcement, Nintendo described the release as an opportunity to “join a young Link on an adventure across time in a vast, mythic world.” Rewriting that in clear journalistic terms: Nintendo says the reborn title places players in the role of a young Link as he travels through Hyrule, guided by the fairy Navi, confronting monsters and characters, and seeking the Triforce to prevent Hyrule’s fall into darkness.

Key features outlined by Nintendo of America include a set of modernized presentation and gameplay updates.

The reborn edition reportedly adds overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes with expanded dialogue, and a full symphonic orchestral soundtrack.

Nintendo also detailed new gameplay integrations: the Switch 2’s microphone can reportedly detect humming or instrument input from the player to trigger the in-game ocarina, and a new Hall of Fallen Heroes area will catalog defeated monsters and offer rematch encounters.

Nintendo said the game will integrate with ZELDA NOTES, a feature available within the Nintendo Switch App for compatible smart devices, intended to provide supplemental content for players.

The company also confirmed plans for two new The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time amiibo figures slated for 2027, which will unlock special in-game masks.

Nintendo noted that existing Legend of Zelda series amiibo will continue to grant gameplay rewards when used.

This reborn edition follows a long platform history for Ocarina of Time, which debuted on Nintendo 64 and later received a notable remaster, Ocarina of Time 3D, for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011.

Nintendo’s announcement frames the release as both a celebration of the franchise’s legacy and a modernized way for new and returning players to experience the Hero of Time on Nintendo Switch 2.
