Nintendo has added new user icons based on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask to its Nintendo Switch Online service, the company confirmed October 4, 2026.
The icons arrive alongside a scheduled rotation of The Legend of Zelda Collectible Cards, which will switch to a Majora's Mask-themed pack later the same day.
Background and platform context
Majora's Mask was originally developed by Nintendo EAD and released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000.
A high-profile remaster, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, arrived on Nintendo 3DS in 2015.
Nintendo Switch Online, the subscription service launched in 2018 that provides online play, cloud saves, and platform-linked features like user icons, continues to add visual content from Nintendo's classic library for subscribers to personalize their profiles.
What’s available now
Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online can access the new Majora's Mask user icons directly through their account options on Nintendo Switch.
The update ties into the collectible card rotation on the service, with Nintendo replacing the previous card offering by the Majora's Mask pack on the stated date.
Rewritten fan reaction
A community comment highlighted demand for a modern remake: one user expressed hopes that Majora's Mask would be remade using the same engine as the Ocarina of Time remake, suggesting it would be an efficient use of development resources.
The comment underscores ongoing fan interest in seeing Nintendo revisit classic Zelda titles with updated technology.
Why it matters
User icons and collectible card packs are part of Nintendo's broader strategy to keep legacy IP visible on contemporary platforms such as the Nintendo Switch and its eShop ecosystem.
While Majora's Mask's most recent full release was the 3DS remaster, these small-profile additions maintain engagement among longtime fans and new players exploring Nintendo's catalog on Switch.
Availability and how to get them
The icons are available immediately to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers as of October 4, 2026.
Players can manage profile icons from their Nintendo Switch user settings and inspect collectible card offerings through the Nintendo Switch Online interface or related announcements.
