Description

Ys: Memories of Celceta is officially set to launch on the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2025, as announced by Falcom during a recent shareholders meeting.

This announcement marks a significant milestone for the acclaimed action RPG, further expanding its reach to new players and hardware.

The upcoming release will first arrive in Japan, continuing Falcom's commitment to bringing their celebrated titles to the Nintendo Switch platform.

Originally debuting on the PlayStation Vita in 2012, Ys: Memories of Celceta quickly garnered praise from action RPG fans, both in Japan and internationally.

The game eventually launched in Western markets in 2013, followed by releases on additional platforms, solidifying its status as a beloved entry in the Ys franchise. Ys: Memories of Celceta was developed by Falcom to honor the Ys series’ 25th anniversary.

Returning to the setting and characters inspired by the cult favorite Ys IV, Falcom crafted a completely new narrative filled with intrigue, mystery, and adventure.

Rather than simply remaking the earlier outsourced versions of Ys IV, Falcom took an innovative approach—framing the story within a reimagined world, resulting in a fresh experience for both newcomers and longtime fans. The game stands out for several core features that have become hallmarks of the series.

Players can explore the vast Celcetan “sea of trees,” regarded as the largest overworld ever constructed for an Ys title.

Navigation is enhanced with a robust mapping system that offers customizable waypoints and intuitive icons, ensuring that exploration remains rewarding and accessible. The party combat system, which debuted in Ys Seven, returns in Memories of Celceta with significant improvements.

Notably, Falcom has expanded the flash-guard mechanics and introduced fully configurable party AI.

Players benefit from unique abilities for each ally, which enrich both the exploration and combat experiences.

Boss Rush mode has also been enhanced, allowing protagonist Adol to challenge formidable foes either solo or, for the first time, alongside a full party. During the shareholders meeting, Falcom representatives highlighted their enthusiasm for broadening the accessibility of their franchises through releases like this.

They emphasized the significance of bringing Ys: Memories of Celceta to the Nintendo Switch, making it possible for a new wave of gamers to experience a pivotal chapter in the Ys saga directly on Nintendo’s popular hybrid console. Ys: Memories of Celceta for Nintendo Switch will launch in Japan in Spring 2025.

Details regarding a Western release date and additional content will be shared as they become available.

For now, fans can anticipate revisiting or discovering the expansive adventures that define this milestone entry in the long-running Ys series, now optimized for the Nintendo Switch ecosystem. In related news, Falcom also announced "The Legend of Heroes: Trails of the 1st" for a worldwide release in Fall 2025 and noted that an updated version of Ys X: Proud Nordics is in development, although further platform details have yet to be confirmed.
