SEGA has confirmed that both Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be launching on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, marking another significant addition to the system’s growing library.

The two acclaimed action RPG titles are slated for a digital release via the Nintendo eShop on November 13, 2025, bringing the Yakuza series’ signature blend of intense storytelling and dynamic combat to a new generation of players. Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are renowned for their gripping narratives and richly detailed recreations of Japan’s urban landscapes.

Originally produced by SEGA, these remakes revitalize the original Yakuza saga with modern visuals and refined gameplay mechanics.

The Nintendo Switch 2 editions promise "enhanced graphics, improved frame rates, and additional upgrades," according to SEGA’s announcement.

Players who already own Yakuza Kiwami on the original Nintendo Switch will have access to a discounted upgrade, making it easier to experience the improvements on the new platform. In Yakuza Kiwami, players assume the role of Kazuma Kiryu, a former yakuza who takes the blame for a murder and is released from prison a decade later into a city on the brink of gang war.

The game is celebrated for its emotional depth, dramatic twists, and brawling combat, which allows players to switch between four unique fighting styles—Brawler, Rush, Beast, and the legendary Dragon style.

Gameplay is further enhanced by the ability to utilize improvised weapons scattered throughout the city’s bustling red-light district. Following the events of the first game, Yakuza Kiwami 2 delves deeper into Kazuma Kiryu’s journey.

After trying to leave his past behind, Kiryu is drawn back into yakuza conflicts when the Tojo Clan’s Fifth Chairman, Yukio Terada, is assassinated.

Tasked with brokering peace amidst rival factions, Kiryu finds himself facing Ryuji Goda, the formidable Dragon of Kansai, in a battle that will determine the fate of both clans.

The sequel expands the setting to include Sotenbori in Osaka and offers even more refined combat and narrative elements. SEGA's decision to bring Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 to Nintendo Switch 2 underscores the publisher’s ongoing support for the platform and its audience.

The move not only broadens the reach of the critically acclaimed Yakuza franchise but also aligns with the growing demand for robust action RPG experiences on Nintendo hardware. Both titles will be available exclusively via digital download through the Nintendo eShop starting November 13, 2025.

With enhanced graphics and smoother performance, fans and newcomers alike can look forward to experiencing the definitive versions of these modern classics when they debut on Nintendo Switch 2.
