Nintendo has rolled out an anticipated update for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on the Nintendo Switch, introducing full amiibo functionality for the newly released Pyra and Mythra amiibo.
This enhancement comes just as the two highly sought-after figures become available, expanding the interactive features of the critically acclaimed role-playing game from developer Monolith Soft.
Version 2.1.0 of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, released on July 19, 2023, officially enables players to scan the Pyra and Mythra amiibo figures through the Nintendo Switch system’s menu.
Once scanned, fans unlock exclusive in-game items themed after these popular characters from the Xenoblade series.
Specifically, players will receive the "Aegis Sword: Pyra" and "Aegis Sword: Mythra," which are available for Swordfighter-class characters.
This new collectible gear enriches the gameplay experience and further ties in Nintendo’s renowned amiibo line with in-game rewards, underscoring the company’s commitment to cross-platform integration and fan engagement.
Beyond amiibo support, the latest update also details additional ways to access these special items.
According to official patch notes from Nintendo, users who meet certain criteria during gameplay can now encounter a new Nopon NPC named Miibomii, located at Llyn Nyddwr Camp in the Fornis region.
By interacting with Miibomii, players are given the opportunity to obtain the Pyra and Mythra-themed rewards even without the physical amiibo, ensuring broader access to the content and improving the overall user experience.
Version 2.1.0 doesn’t stop at adding amiibo features.
It addresses several issues in the "Future Redeemed" content of the Expansion Pass Wave 4.
Notable fixes include an increased chance of re-acquiring Battle Manuals, Tactics Manuals, and Strategy Manuals—essential tools for player progression.
The update also resolves problems that prevented players from re-attempting the final battle after a defeat and fixes a bug that could halt progress in the Chapter 2 quest, "Pursue Glimmer." These improvements aim to enhance playability and reduce friction for dedicated fans of the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise, which has garnered global acclaim since its initial release on the Nintendo Switch in July 2022.
Monolith Soft continues to showcase its technical prowess and attention to player feedback with this comprehensive update, further supporting Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s reputation as a standout RPG in the Nintendo Switch library.
For those interested in interactive NFT collectibles, the Pyra and Mythra amiibo are available through the Nintendo eShop and major retailers, expanding the reach and replay value of one of Nintendo’s flagship titles.
