Torna - The Golden Country Switch 2 Upgrade: Free 4K/60fps Patch Arrives July 30, 2026

Nintendo confirmed during its recent Nintendo Direct that Xenoblade Chronicles titles are receiving upgraded Switch 2 Editions, and that Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s expansion Torna - The Golden Country will get a free enhancement on the new hardware.

The move follows Monolith Soft’s long-running stewardship of the Xenoblade series and aligns with Nintendo’s broader rollout of Switch 2 upgrades across legacy franchises.

According to Nintendo’s official eShop listing, on July 30, 2026, both digital and physical versions of Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country will receive a free update enabling 4K resolution at 60 frames per second in TV mode and 1080p at 60 frames per second in handheld mode when played on the Nintendo Switch 2 system.

The listing also clarifies how the upgrade applies to Expansion Pass owners: players who received Torna as part of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Expansion Pass can access the Switch 2 visual and performance enhancements by purchasing the separate Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack.

Those dates tie directly to Nintendo’s confirmed release schedule for the remastered editions: the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will launch digitally on July 30, 2026, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s Switch 2 Edition is set to return on December 3, 2026.

The first Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 2 Edition has already been released, completing Nintendo’s phased approach to bringing the trilogy to the new platform.

Monolith Soft and Nintendo have positioned these Switch 2 Editions as ways to modernize the series’ technical presentation while preserving the core RPG design that fans expect.

The free Torna upgrade is notable because it provides a no-cost enhancement for owners of the standalone Torna product, while Expansion Pass users are offered a paid route to access the full Switch 2 upgrade through an official upgrade pack.

For players tracking release windows and hardware updates, the Nintendo eShop entry is the primary source of the upgrade details, and the July 30, 2026 and December 3, 2026 dates are the confirmed timelines for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Switch 2 Edition launches respectively.

Keep an eye on future Nintendo Direct presentations and the eShop for any further patch notes or distribution details.
