Telltale Games is preparing to reintroduce one of its most celebrated titles with The Wolf Among Us Remaster, arriving on Nintendo platforms on October 29, 2026.

The original episodic adventure, developed by the studio and loosely adapted from Bill Willingham’s Fables comics, first released in 2013–2014 and established Telltale’s narrative-driven approach.

The remaster aims to bring that narrative and art-driven experience to both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.

At Gamescom, Telltale opened a playable demo guided by studio representative Matt Saia.

The session emphasized the remaster’s visual overhaul and fidelity to the original gameplay.

Telltale representatives said the remaster preserves the original game’s structure while adding new environmental interactions and visual upgrades.

Developers also confirmed the project was rebuilt in the studio’s original engine rather than the Unreal Engine technology being used for the upcoming sequel.

Gameplay in the demo remained faithful to classic Telltale conventions: players point and click to examine the environment, choose dialogue options that influence relationships and outcomes, and follow protagonist Bigby Wolf through episodic scenes.

The demo featured a library sequence in which Bigby and other characters search books and relay leads to the Magic Mirror, demonstrating how the remaster layers improved visuals onto familiar scenarios.

Visually, the remaster replaces some previously flat 2D backdrops with full 3D models, improves character model detail, and targets higher resolution and steadier frame rates.

Audio has also been refreshed: the team retained the original voice performances and applied new audio mastering to clarify and brighten the cast’s work.

Telltale additionally confirmed a new Noir Mode will be included to amplify the game’s detective aesthetic.

While no brand-new story episodes were added, the studio said it has introduced new stage interactions and Easter eggs intended to reward returning players.

The Wolf Among Us Remaster ships with all five original episodes available at launch, making it accessible to new players and returning fans alike.

With a sequel in development under the reformed Telltale banner, this remaster positions the franchise for renewed attention on Nintendo hardware.

The game’s October 29, 2026 release will mark an opportunity for Switch owners to discover or revisit Fabletown and Bigby Wolf’s noir mystery.
