The Tetris Company has announced a new CG-animated children's series titled Tetris: World Builders at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The project, aimed at children aged six and older, is produced by French studio TeamTO with creators Marco Balsamo and Tara Sibel Demren and lists Chuck Williams as an executive producer.

The series is presented as an educational adventure that blends imaginative storytelling with STEAM-inspired problem-solving.

Tetris: World Builders centers on a group of young "World Builders" whose world is disrupted when Tetrimino blocks begin to fall from the sky.

According to the project's description, the Scouts use creativity, collaboration and STEAM-based thinking to adapt landscapes, solve community problems and build a brighter future.

TeamTO producers Marco Balsamo and Tara Sibel Demren are leading production alongside executive producer Chuck Williams.

In a company statement, Maya Rogers, president and CEO of The Tetris Company, said the series is intended to broaden the franchise beyond games and encourage creativity and collaboration among young viewers.

The company framed the project as a way to expand the Tetris universe into an "entirely new" medium while preserving the logic-and-play spirit that has defined the brand for decades.

Tara Sibel Demren added that translating Tetris into a cinematic animated world enables the introduction of human child characters to give the franchise a more emotional, character-driven perspective.

Tetris is a long-running franchise that began in 1984 when Alexey Pajitnov created the original game.

The Tetris Company, co-founded by Henk Rogers and Alexey Pajitnov, has managed the brand and licensing since the mid-1990s.

Tetris has appeared on numerous platforms across multiple generations of hardware, including Nintendo systems: the Game Boy version released in 1989 became one of the handheld's best-known and best-selling titles, and the franchise has continued its presence on Nintendo hardware with releases such as Tetris 99, which launched on Nintendo Switch in 2019 as a Nintendo Switch Online title, and Tetris Effect: Connected, which arrived on Switch in 2021.

The announcement follows continued interest in adapting Tetris for screen: a dramatized feature film about the rights battle behind the game, starring Taron Egerton as Henk Rogers, was released in 2023.

The Tetris Company has explored screen adaptations before, including past collaborations and proposals with other producers, and the new TeamTO partnership marks its latest step into animated television.

Only a single key art image has been released so far and no broadcast or streaming release date has been announced.

For now, Tetris: World Builders represents The Tetris Company's effort to bring the franchise to younger audiences through animation while maintaining ties to the puzzle game's long history on platforms including Nintendo Switch and Game Boy.
