Warframe Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 with Major Next-Gen Enhancements and New Content Update

Digital Extremes’ renowned free-to-play online action game Warframe has officially landed on Nintendo Switch 2, making its debut this week with extensive next-generation enhancements.

This launch not only expands Warframe’s already impressive multiplatform presence, but it also aims to deliver a significantly upgraded experience for Nintendo Switch 2 players, bridging the gap between handheld gaming and high-end console performance.

As part of the highly anticipated release, the Warframe development team unveiled a side-by-side comparison trailer outlining the suite of technical improvements exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 version.

The game now features higher resolution textures and dramatically improved lighting, powered by advanced rendering techniques.

Enhanced with DLSS support, Warframe targets a crisp 1080p resolution at a smooth 60 frames per second, firmly placing the game among the top-performing titles on the new console.

"The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Warframe delivers a host of technical enhancements, letting Tenno enjoy their journey anywhere," Digital Extremes stated in the official launch trailer.

"Players can expect a target resolution of 1080p at 60 FPS, DLSS support, and a range of new features designed to elevate the gameplay experience."

Further additions include support for the new Joy-Con 2’s mouse functionality, ensuring more precise aiming and gameplay customization.

Warframe also boasts noticeably quicker loading times on Nintendo Switch 2, taking full advantage of the updated hardware.

The launch coincides with "The Shadowgrapher," Warframe’s first major content update of the year.

This standalone update introduces the game’s 64th playable Warframe, Follie, whose unique ink-based abilities bring new dimensions to combat and strategy.

Players can squad up in the brand-new Follie's Hunt game mode and explore the next stage of mecha-inspired customizations with the Gauss Moto and the formidable Grendel Turbis.

Additionally, the update brings expanded cosmetic options, including TennoGen Shadowgrapher items and Atragraphs—innovative mod variants that enable deeper personalization.

To celebrate the launch, Digital Extremes is offering Switch 2 players an exclusive Ambimanus Pack.

Logging into Warframe between March 25, 2026, and April 15, 2026, will grant access to special rewards, including the Vericres Warfan weapon, the Akomeogi Warfan weapon skin, the Slicing Feathers Stance Mod, and both Affinity and Credit boosters.

Warframe’s arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 cements its position as one of the longest-running and most innovative free-to-play experiences in the modern gaming landscape.

Digital Extremes continues to evolve the game with regular content expansions and technical improvements, ensuring that both new and veteran players have plenty to discover.

Warframe is available now via the Nintendo eShop and continues to receive strong post-launch support for all platforms.
