Nintendo has released a behind-the-scenes look at Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2 that spotlights an orchestral recording session at London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios.

The footage first appeared in the Nintendo Today app and — while not yet posted to Nintendo’s public channels — offers a rare view into the game’s music production and wider presentation.

Star Fox, based on the Star Fox 64 template and reimagined for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, features a complete visual overhaul, fully voiced cutscenes and an expanded multiplayer suite.

Nintendo confirmed that the soundtrack re-records themes from previous Star Fox installments with a full orchestra; the game’s credits list Abbey Road Studios as the recording location.

The studio’s involvement underscores Nintendo’s emphasis on a cinematic audio presentation to match the title’s graphical and narrative enhancements.

Gameplay-wise, the new Star Fox is described as a modernized cinematic take on Star Fox 64.

Players pilot the Arwing through the Lylat System to oppose the villain Andross, engaging in free-flying dogfights, navigating asteroid fields and exploring diverse planets from Corneria to the polluted oceans of Zoness.

Core combat mechanics such as barrel rolls, somersaults, braking in mid-air and Boost thrusts remain central to aerial encounters.

The title includes several modes tailored to both solo and multiplayer audiences.

Campaign Mode features branching routes influenced by player performance, with Easy and Normal difficulties available at the outset and an Expert setting unlockable through in-game achievements.

Challenge Mode lets players revisit cleared stages to tackle new objectives on Normal or Expert difficulty.

The new Battle Mode supports 4-vs-4 matches — pitting Team Star Fox against Team Star Wolf across multiple objectives and stages — and can be played via private matches or online matchmaking.

Star Fox leverages Nintendo Switch 2–specific features such as Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for more intuitive aiming in Campaign and Challenge modes, and a GameChat system that adds character avatars and AR filters for in-game voice interaction.

GameShare enables up to four players to share compatible games locally or online through GameChat, with online GameShare functionality restricted to Nintendo Switch 2 systems.

Star Fox is currently available on Nintendo Switch 2.

The newly revealed Abbey Road sessions highlight Nintendo’s commitment to a high-fidelity presentation, pairing a sweeping orchestral score with the console’s upgraded performance and the franchise’s signature arcade-style space combat.
