Square Enix has published a free demo of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World on the Nintendo eShop for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The demo offers a playable slice of the game's opening through the events in the Kingdom of Witherwood and allows players to carry progress into the full release, which is due worldwide on 3 December 2026.

The demo is available now on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Players who keep their demo save file can transfer up to eight monsters — limited to Rank G and Rank F — into the full game.
As an additional incentive, Square Enix is awarding the Wrangler’s Bundle to demo players, which contains Ring of Impulse x1, Bonus Ball x1 and Smoked Sirloin x5.
Square Enix described the demo in straightforward terms, noting that it lets players "experience the game from the start of the story up to the conclusion of events in Witherwood while learning the systems for recruiting, raising and synthesising monsters." The publisher also confirmed that demo participants will "receive an item set for the full game and may transfer up to eight monsters from the main party and reserves if they retain their demo save data."

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World centers on Bianca and Nera — characters drawn from Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride — with Bianca voiced by Eva Feiler and Nera voiced by Kimberly Capera.
They are joined by allies including Debora (Rebecca Hanssen), the creature Fluffy (Caius Nicholas) and Fizzy (Harriet Carmichael).
The story sends the duo to Witherwood to hunt the fabled Leaves of Life and restore their ailing fathers.
