Resident Evil Requiem Debuts at Number One in UK Charts, with Notable Nintendo Switch 2 Performance

Capcom’s latest entry in the acclaimed survival horror series, Resident Evil Requiem, has stormed to the top of the latest UK game charts following its highly anticipated release on February 27, 2026.

The title, available across multiple platforms, underscores Capcom’s continued dominance in the genre and the enduring popularity of the Resident Evil franchise.

Notably, the Nintendo Switch 2 contributed to these results, offering fresh momentum for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware in the competitive landscape. Resident Evil Requiem’s debut week was met with robust sales across all platforms, with the PlayStation 5 leading at 54% of total physical sales, followed by PC (36%), Xbox (6%), and Switch 2, which accounted for 4%.

While Switch 2’s share appears modest, Christopher Dring of The Game Business explained that the platform’s performance for Requiem closely matched that of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition’s launch on the same system in the previous year.

Dring further emphasized that Requiem outperformed Mario Tennis Fever in its first week, and its overall physical sales have already surpassed those of previous Resident Evil releases, including the Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil Village. Early indicators suggest that the Game-Key Card distribution model employed for Switch 2 releases has not hampered Requiem’s momentum on Nintendo’s latest console.

Capcom’s strategic support of the Switch 2 is further evidenced by the strong debut of the Resident Evil Generation Pack, which secured the number three spot in this week’s charts.

This exclusive Switch 2 bundle features Resident Evil Requiem alongside Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village, solidifying Capcom’s multi-title presence and expanding its audience among Nintendo fans. Elsewhere in the rankings, Tales of Berseria Remastered made its first appearance at number 20.

PlayStation 5 users made up the majority of its sales at 54%, while Switch followed with 38% and Xbox with 8%, highlighting solid cross-platform engagement.

Nintendo’s own titles maintained a significant presence, with Pokémon Legends: Z-A achieving a healthy mix of sales between Switch (48%) and Switch 2 (52%), and franchises like Mario Kart and Animal Crossing continuing to hold strong positions in the top 20.

The persistent demand for Nintendo exclusives, and the boost provided by the introduction of the Switch 2, signal an evolving player base seeking both established and innovative experiences. Resident Evil Requiem’s chart-topping performance underscores Capcom’s ongoing success with expertly crafted, cross-platform releases, while the remarkable showing of Resident Evil Generation Pack affirms the effectiveness of exclusive content on next-gen Nintendo hardware.

With a balanced platform landscape and several multiplaform heavyweights dominating sales, the UK market continues to reflect the diverse tastes and technological shifts shaping the future of gaming.
