Description

The most recent UK Charts, compiled by GfK, have delivered new insights into the performance of Nintendo titles and other major releases, giving players and industry watchers a detailed look at the evolving gaming landscape across Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and competing platforms.

This week, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment made a strong debut at number 5, joining a roster of best-selling games and demonstrating the continued appeal of the Zelda universe’s ever-expanding spin-off catalogue. Standing out among the new entries, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment follows the tactical action tradition established by its predecessors and is the latest collaboration between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo.

Despite landing behind titles like EA SPORTS FC 26, Football Manager 26, Mario Kart World, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the game’s launch marks a commendable start for this latest spin-off.

However, it is evident that Hyrule Warriors’ sub-series does not match the mainstream popularity of core Zelda titles—a factor influenced, in part, by the relatively limited install base of the Switch 2 in the UK market so far. Notably, Pokémon Legends: Z-A also maintained a prominent position at number four, with a significant portion of its sales coming from both the Nintendo Switch (61%) and Switch 2 (39%).

Meanwhile, Mario Kart World made a strong showing in the third position, reinforcing the enduring power of Nintendo’s flagship racing franchise across generations.

Another highlight includes Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, which slipped out of the top ten but remains a consistent performer as the holiday season approaches, reflecting the timelessness of Mario platformers on Nintendo Switch. A surprise re-entry came from Bluey: The Videogame, which climbed back into the charts at number 38.

This family-friendly title continues to benefit from its popularity on Nintendo Switch, driving 90% of its UK sales on the platform—a testament to the Switch's enduring appeal among younger audiences and families alike. The rest of the top 40 reveals a highly competitive environment, with multi-platform and Nintendo-focused releases vying for market share.

Notable entries include Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Party Jamboree, demonstrating ongoing player interest in Nintendo’s marquee franchises.

Platform-specific breakdowns highlight that titles like WWE 2K25 and Sonic X Shadow Generations are enjoying diverse audiences across both legacy and newer hardware—including the growing presence of Switch 2. With the holiday period boosting sales and new hardware adoption gradually increasing, the latest UK Charts reinforce Nintendo’s broad reach and the strong resonance of its IPs across both classic and emerging hardware.

As the Switch 2 install base grows in the UK, future sales for first- and third-party titles are likely to see even greater shifts within these rankings.
