Cooldown Games and Frozenbyte have confirmed a delay for Trine 6: Together In Time as development continues on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The studio announced the new digital release date for the Nintendo eShop as 4 March 2027, and said the extra time will be used to refine puzzles, combat, camera systems, onboarding, and online multiplayer.

Why the delay: Private Playtest feedback

Developers said feedback from a recent Private Playtest gave them a clearer picture of what works and where the game needs improvement.

In a development update the team explained they will take additional time to implement changes identified during testing, including a new way to experience puzzles, improvements to combat and camera behaviour, better onboarding for new players, and enhancements to online multiplayer systems.

The studio acknowledged the delay may be disappointing but said the changes are intended to deliver a stronger experience for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Playable characters and core mechanics

Trine 6 features five playable characters: returning series favourites Amadeus the Wizard, Zoya the Thief, and Pontius the Knight, plus two newcomers.

Moira the Acrobat uses ribbon-based traversal and fluid kick combos, while Adrius the Squire wields a spear that can be planted to create traversal platforms.

All characters can access a new Time-Slow ability to aid precise jumps, combat responses, and tricky puzzle moments.

Gameplay features and focus

The developers describe Trine 6 as a co-op-first experience with puzzles that encourage coordination and ability-combination.

Importantly, puzzles can be solved by any character, allowing players to choose characters based on playstyle rather than strict puzzle roles.

Updated designs also support solo play.

The game supports up to four-player shared adventure, with local couch co-op and online crossplay enabling players to team up across platforms.

Combat and exploration

Dynamic combat emphasizes dodging, positioning, and timing, with enemies that present varied behaviours and boss encounters that blend combat and traversal.

The handcrafted fantasy world contains hidden paths and secrets for players to discover and rewards to power up heroes.

Release details

Trine 6: Together In Time will launch digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on 4 March 2027.

The development team says the delay is intended to let them act on playtest feedback and deliver a polished, cooperative adventure.
