Triggerheart Excelica Enhanced Receives Physical Nintendo Switch Release via Limited Run Games

Triggerheart Excelica Enhanced, the acclaimed vertical shoot ‘em up, is set to receive a physical release on the Nintendo Switch through Limited Run Games.

The announcement, made today by Limited Run Games, marks the next chapter for fans of the storied shooter, as it arrives on the latest Nintendo hardware with enhanced features and updated content.

Known for reviving beloved classic titles with high-quality physical editions, Limited Run Games continues its tradition with this release, catering to collectors and fans of the shoot 'em up genre alike. Originally debuting in Japanese arcades and later appearing on consoles, Triggerheart Excelica Enhanced elevates the franchise with notable gameplay refinements and new additions.

This Switch edition maintains core series mechanics while introducing an expanded experience for both newcomers and returning players.

The physical release will be available in a standard edition that includes a specially-designed booklet, with its contents yet to be detailed by the publisher. Triggerheart Excelica Enhanced distinguishes itself through the introduction of the playable character Faintia, who has been completely redesigned for the Enhanced edition.

Faintia’s unique weapon—a continuous laser—brings a fresh approach to the game’s shooting mechanics, offering a style distinct from the classic characters Exelica and Cruelica.

In this release, players can enjoy a new short story mode and ending dedicated to Faintia, further expanding the narrative scope from previous entries. One of the critical enhancements in this version is an updated score calculation method.

Unlike in Trigger Heart Exelica, where utilizing the Anchor Shoot weapon changed the score multiplier, Enhanced does not alter the multiplier regardless of Anchor Shoot usage.

This adjustment provides a balanced scoring system and encourages diverse playstyles.

The game also features a robust story mode, immersing players in an unfolding narrative told through approximately 70 high-resolution still illustrations, all fully voiced.

Visual upgrades contribute to a richer, more vibrant presentation, bringing the story’s world to life on the Nintendo Switch.

An additional highlight is the inclusion of a fully animated opening movie produced by P.A.WORKS, complemented by the theme song "GRAVITY ERROR," performed by the renowned artist Ayane. Pre-orders for the Triggerheart Excelica Enhanced physical edition on Nintendo Switch will open on October 24, 2025, exclusively through Limited Run Games.
