Toy Story: Retro Roundup! coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch — full retro collection details

Atari and preservation specialist Digital Eclipse have announced Toy Story: Retro Roundup!, a retro game compilation for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

The collection brings together several classic games based on Pixar's Toy Story films, combining original releases, archival materials, and modern quality-of-life updates.

Atari will publish the title, which releases digitally on the Nintendo eShop and as a physical bundle alongside Toy Story 3 Complete Edition.

Release and platforms

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! will be released worldwide on 15 October 2026.

The compilation is available digitally on the Nintendo eShop for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

A physical edition — bundling Toy Story: Retro Roundup! with Toy Story 3 Complete Edition — will also ship on the same date for both platforms.

Included games and archival content

The compilation includes the following titles originally released across PlayStation, SNES, Game Boy and other systems:

- Toy Story (1995)

- Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (1999)

- Toy Story 2 (1999)

- Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000)

- Toy Story Racer (2001)

A Bug’s Life (1998) is included as a bonus game.

Many of these titles have been difficult or unavailable on modern hardware, and this collection consolidates them with added preservation features.

Behind the scenes and audio

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! features six behind-the-scenes video featurettes with industry contributors, including Pixar head of story Jason Katz, Disney and Pixar Games vice president and general manager Luigi Priore, TT Games founder Jon Burton, and actor Jim Hanks.

The collection also includes a Music Player that houses the soundtracks from every included game, with an uncompressed, CD-quality version of the original Toy Story game soundtrack.

Modernization and features

Atari outlined key quality-of-life features designed for modern play:

- Rollback gameplay to retry difficult sections instantly.

- Save and load anytime to pick up where you left off.

- Rex’s Cheat Code to unlock characters, levels, and bonus modes such as invincibility and unlimited lives.

- Practice Mode with guided playthroughs for learning.

- Modernized How to Play guides fully localized for current systems.

- Enhanced visuals with a high-resolution presentation and an option to switch to the original PlayStation 1 look.

Atari vice president of games Ethan Stearns said the collection revives classic Toy Story titles for modern platforms, pairing careful updates with bonus material that takes players behind the scenes of both the games and films.

The release marks another high-profile preservation effort for retro console-era licensed games on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
