Nintendo has once again delighted fans by expanding its Nintendo Music app's catalogue with the addition of three beloved game soundtracks from the classic Pilotwings series.
Starting today, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can enjoy the original music from Pilotwings (Super Nintendo Entertainment System), Pilotwings 64 (Nintendo 64), and Pilotwings Resort (Nintendo 3DS) through the Nintendo Music app, which is available on select regions via the Google Play and iOS App Store.
The Nintendo Music app is part of the company’s continued push to enhance the value of the Nintendo Switch Online service, offering exclusive content and nostalgic experiences for its growing subscriber base.
Nintendo Switch Online, which launched in September 2018, provides access to a library of classic and modern games, as well as frequent digital exclusives such as this latest update.
The new soundtracks feature a comprehensive selection of tracks from each of the three iconic Pilotwings titles, allowing fans to relive the audio landscapes that defined these games.
From the tranquil "Title Screen" and "Light Plane" themes in the original Pilotwings, to the dynamic "Gyrocopter" missions in Pilotwings 64 and high-flying adventure tracks of Pilotwings Resort, listeners can now access the full experience on their devices.
Highlights include fan-favorite tracks such as "Awarded the Pilot’s Wings," "Birdman," and "Main Theme," catering to both longtime followers and those discovering these classics for the first time.
In an official statement, Nintendo emphasized its ongoing commitment to celebrating the legacy of its franchises.
The company explained that expanding the Nintendo Music app with iconic soundtracks like Pilotwings gives Switch Online subscribers new ways to connect with Nintendo’s storied history.
The move aligns with Nintendo’s broader strategy to foster community engagement and nostalgia, especially among audiences who grew up with classics from the SNES and N64 eras.
Since the original release of Pilotwings for the SNES in 1990, followed by Pilotwings 64 in 1996, and Pilotwings Resort on the 3DS in 2011, the series has garnered a dedicated fanbase and sold millions of units worldwide.
Adding their music to the Nintendo Music catalogue not only preserves this rich legacy but also supports the company’s commitment to celebrating its game development milestones.
To access the soundtracks, users must have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription and download the Nintendo Music app from the respective app stores, where it is currently available in select regions.
With this latest update, Nintendo reaffirms its role as a leader in both game development and digital entertainment services, providing fans with more ways to revisit classic moments on modern platforms.
