Introduction
On 21 October 2026, physical download cards discovered on retail shelves in Japan reconfirmed the estimated file size for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo's next-generation hardware, commonly referred to as Switch 2.
The information, first reported via Genki_JPN and highlighted by NintendoUpdate, aligns with an earlier eShop listing that also placed the game's estimated download at 27GB ahead of its planned November release window.
What the listings show
Retail download cards visible in Japan list a 27GB download requirement for the digital version of Ocarina of Time on Switch 2.
Nintendo's official eShop entry previously showed the same 27GB estimate, making the two sources consistent.
The title will also receive a physical release on game card format, per retail information from the Japanese market.
How Nintendo describes the remake
Nintendo's product description for the Switch 2 version indicates the classic Nintendo 64 adventure has been comprehensively updated.
In journalistic terms, Nintendo says the remake features fully overhauled visuals, newly voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, and a re-recorded symphonic orchestral soundtrack.
Those elements are cited by Nintendo as core improvements in the Switch 2 release.
Context and size comparisons
For context, other Switch 2 releases offer a range of file sizes: the recent Star Fox remake that released on Switch 2 in June required approximately 15.1GB of storage, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Switch 2 is listed at about 20GB, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild requires roughly 24GB.
The 27GB estimate for Ocarina of Time places it above several contemporary Switch 2 ports and remakes, reflecting the scope of audio and visual updates Nintendo has described.
What we can verify
All file-size figures referenced here come from public eShop listings and retail download-card sightings reported in Japan by Genki_JPN and aggregated by NintendoUpdate.
Nintendo's official product text provides the description of new visual and audio elements.
The game is confirmed for both digital and physical distribution on Switch 2; the download size remains listed as an estimate and could be updated by Nintendo in the lead-up to release.
Conclusion
With consistent listings on both retail download cards and the Nintendo eShop, the Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is currently estimated at a 27GB digital download and will also be available on physical game card.
We will report any official changes to the file size or additional technical details as Nintendo publishes them.
