Nintendo fans anticipating the big screen debut of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises will need to mark their calendars for a later date.
Nintendo has officially announced that The Legend of Zelda live-action movie, initially scheduled for a March 26, 2027 release, will now arrive in theaters on May 7, 2027.
This delay, which was confirmed through an official statement, comes as the production team works to ensure the film meets the high expectations set by the beloved game series.
The Legend of Zelda is steeped in video game history, with its first title launching in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

"For production reasons, we have changed the release date of the live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027," Miyamoto stated.
"The team will use this additional time to ensure the movie reaches its highest potential.

As details about the upcoming Zelda movie remain closely guarded, what is confirmed is that Wes Ball, known for his work on the Maze Runner film series, will serve as director.
