Super Rare Games has announced a limited physical release that bundles two acclaimed detective titles — The Case of the Golden Idol and Rise of the Golden Idol — on a single Nintendo Switch cartridge under the name The Golden Idol Saga.

The package brings both indie point-and-click mystery experiences to a collectible physical format for Switch owners and will be offered in standard and deluxe variants.

The physical run is strictly limited: 3,500 standard copies and 1,500 deluxe editions.

Standard copies are priced at £37.20, while the deluxe edition carries a retail price of £69.60.

Pre-orders open on Thursday, 27 August at 6pm BST / 10am PDT / 1pm EDT, and Super Rare Games expects the limited runs to move quickly once ordering goes live.

In journalistic terms: Super Rare Games will place both detective titles on a single Nintendo Switch cartridge and sell them in two limited production tiers.

The company has communicated that availability is limited and collectors should be prepared for rapid sell-through.

What’s included

- Standard edition: The Switch cartridge with a full-colour manual, a complete trading card set that includes a special shiny card, and a Super Rare Games sticker.

- Deluxe edition extras: A detective’s journal for note-taking, a Golden Idol fridge magnet, two sticker sheets featuring the game’s cast, and a fold-out poster timeline to help piece together the saga.

Both editions ship in an exclusive clamshell box that serves as a display-ready home for the collection.

Both The Case of the Golden Idol and Rise of the Golden Idol have been noted by players and press for their puzzle design and narrative-driven investigation mechanics.

This physical bundle from Super Rare Games gives Nintendo Switch collectors a single-cartridge option for owning both titles in a limited-production format.

Pre-orders for The Golden Idol Saga go live on 27 August at the times listed above.

Given the fixed quantities and Super Rare Games’ history with limited physical drops, interested buyers should be ready at launch to secure a copy.
