Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] and Kingdom Hearts IV Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo and Square Enix confirmed during the June 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct that the Kingdom Hearts series will arrive as native ports on Nintendo Switch 2, with a major collection and the next mainline entry heading to Nintendo's next console.

The announcement follows years of Kingdom Hearts availability on Nintendo platforms and marks the first time the core numbered entries will be released as native Switch 2 ports.

What was announced

Nintendo announced that Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] will launch on October 8, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2.

The collection bundles three previously released compilations: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III with the Re Mind DLC.

These native ports are presented as the recommended way to play the early and modern entries in the franchise on Nintendo's next-generation hardware.

In addition, Nintendo confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 at the console's launch window.

In plain terms, Nintendo said players can expect Kingdom Hearts IV to be part of the Switch 2 launch lineup, bringing the series forward on the platform.

Paraphrasing the announcement: Nintendo stated that the Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] will arrive October 8, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2 and that Kingdom Hearts IV will be offered on Switch 2 at launch.

Cloud versions, discounts, and eShop changes

Square Enix and Nintendo also outlined a transition plan for existing Switch cloud versions.

Owners of the cloud releases will be eligible for a 50 percent discount on the native Switch 2 ports.

The companies confirmed that the cloud versions of Kingdom Hearts titles will be removed from sale on the Nintendo eShop and will become unplayable after June 9, 2027.

This delisting means players who purchased cloud editions will need to use the upgrade discount or otherwise move to the native ports to continue access on Nintendo hardware.

Why this matters

For Nintendo Switch 2 owners and Kingdom Hearts fans, the announcement consolidates the series on Nintendo's next console with localized native builds.

Square Enix, the franchise developer and publisher, has delivered multiple collections and remasters across platforms, and this release brings those editions into the Switch 2 ecosystem with a specified release calendar.
