Eidos-Montréal and Marvel Games have officially confirmed that Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop on 5 November 2026.
The Encore Edition brings the action-adventure experience that puts players in the role of Star-Lord — leading the Guardians in combat, exploration, and conversation — to Nintendo's next-generation handheld/home hybrid.
The Switch 2 port includes the full base game and all previously released digital content, plus several Switch 2-exclusive features.
Eidos-Montréal says the Encore Edition adds five new, exclusive outfits — one for each Guardian — inspired by 1980s glam rock.
The original game already offered extensive character progression and cosmetic variety, including up to 50 in-game outfits and a licensed soundtrack of more than 30 classic '80s hits; those core elements remain part of this release.
Key Switch 2 features confirmed:
- Full base game: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy with all prior digital content included.
- Five exclusive glam rock outfits: New looks for each Guardian available only in the Encore Edition.
- Mouse control support: Full mouse functionality for menus and aiming using the built-in Switch 2 mouse.
- Gyroscope motion support: Tilt controls for guiding the Milano and for zero-gravity sequences.
- Three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld.
In a prepared statement, Eidos-Montréal studio creative director Jean-François Dugas described the Encore Edition as the studio's way of giving the Guardians "one more night on stage" on Nintendo Switch 2, noting the team invested significant care into the five main characters and wanted to extend that presentation to the new platform.
Associate producer Inès Bruckner explained that the Switch 2 version was developed internally at Eidos-Montréal to ensure the game feels at home across TV and handheld contexts and to deliver outfits that match the glam rock aesthetic tied to the Star-Lord band's album.
Marvel Games executive producer Eric Monacelli framed the release as an opportunity to bring a critically recognized Marvel Games story to a new platform, emphasizing that the Encore Edition invites both returning players and new audiences on Switch 2 to experience what the team views as a standout narrative-driven action title.
