The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales — Square Enix Adds Dialogue Option Ahead of Nintendo Switch 2 Release

Square Enix has implemented player-driven changes to The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales after receiving feedback from the game's demo, the developer confirmed ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch.

The action RPG, developed and published by Square Enix, is scheduled to release for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 18, 2026.

The title features a fairy companion named Faie who assists the protagonist in exploration and combat.

Demo players highlighted Faie’s frequent commentary as a point of contention, drawing comparisons to Navi from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Square Enix producer Naofumi Matsushita acknowledged that the team was surprised by the volume of requests to reduce Faie’s dialogue.

Matsushita said the team had grown attached to Faie during development and that the feedback prompted a re-evaluation.

In response, the developers added an option that lowers how often Faie speaks, giving players greater control over in-game commentary.

Matsushita also summarized broader demo feedback and the studio response.

He reported that players both in Japan and overseas provided substantial positive reaction to the game’s core systems, and that the development team carefully reviewed suggested adjustments.

Following that review, the studio implemented targeted quality-of-life improvements: separating the map open and close controls to reduce menu friction; enabling immediate access to the magicite menu without extra navigation; and raising the protagonist’s base movement speed to improve pacing.

In addition to interface and control tweaks, Square Enix expanded difficulty options.

The full game will include four difficulty settings, explicitly adding Easy and Very Hard modes to make the title approachable for a wider range of players and to offer greater challenge for veterans.

The studio has also publicly addressed ongoing comparisons to The Legend of Zelda series, noting the similarities players have observed while emphasizing The Adventures of Elliot’s distinct systems and narrative.

The demo-driven changes underscore Square Enix’s iterative approach as the release date approaches.

For players following Nintendo Directs and eShop updates, the June 18, 2026 Switch 2 release is now the key date to watch for the full retail and digital launch.
