Idea Factory International and ichicolumn have officially announced Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights, an upcoming otome visual novel scheduled for a global release on the Nintendo Switch in 2026.
The announcement was accompanied by the game's opening movie, setting the stage for a narrative-rich adventure that blends themes of luck, tragedy, and romance.
Set in the eastern kingdom of Temirana, the game introduces players to a unique world where social status and occupation are determined by birth month.
The story centers around Cecilia, the kingdom’s third princess, who was born with a distinct birthmark on her forehead.
Rumored to be the 'Cursed Princess,' Cecilia has been forced to live in isolation far from her family and the royal castle for most of her life.
However, with her birthday drawing near, her destiny and the fate of the kingdom begin to shift dramatically.
As Cecilia approaches her coming-of-age celebration, she attends the Helis Duelm, a prestigious dueling tournament.
It is here that she discovers her unique power: whenever she faces danger, certain people and places emanate a glowing light as a warning.
During the tournament, five men appear to shine more brilliantly than anyone else, catching Cecilia’s attention.
Despite warnings from those aware of her ability that these glowing men might be threatening, Cecilia senses something distinctly different about them.
Trusting her intuition, she invites these five individuals to join her as knights, even though some have little interest in knighthood or lack sword-fighting experience.
The story follows Cecilia and her newly appointed royal guard as they navigate looming tragedy and develop their bonds.
The game features a narrative crafted by renowned otome creators, including director Ayumi Takagi (Hana Yaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku), main scenario writer Uta Amemiya (Charade Maniacs), and character designer Nitaka (Touken Ranbu).
Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights promises deep storytelling with five interactive character routes, merging political intrigue, familial hierarchy, and emotional drama.
Gameplay centers on Cecilia’s ability to foresee and avoid danger, allowing players to make pivotal decisions at crucial moments.
These choices are integral to the progression of each romantic route and can lead to exclusive epilogues based on the paths taken.
According to the publisher, “Certain choices will only appear when the Lucky Princess's life is in peril.
It’s up to the player to navigate toward the best possible outcomes.”
Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights will be available both at retail and digitally via the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch, with a worldwide launch slated for 2026.
Fans of the genre can look forward to an immersive visual novel experience that emphasizes both story depth and player agency.
