Description

Hollow Knight Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel from developer Team Cherry, made its long-awaited debut last week, causing a surge that overwhelmed digital storefronts, including the Nintendo eShop.

Building on the critical and commercial success of the original Hollow Knight, Silksong has quickly established itself as a standout 2024 release for Nintendo Switch and other platforms, capturing the attention of Metroidvania fans worldwide. Team Cherry has acted swiftly to support their new title, announcing the rollout of Silksong’s first major post-launch update.

This patch, scheduled for release in the middle of next week, aims to address several gameplay issues and enhance the user experience across all supported platforms.

The developer emphasizes its commitment to player satisfaction and game stability following the game’s unprecedented, record-setting launch. The forthcoming update delivers a robust suite of fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

One of the key changes resolves incidents where players could end up without a cloak following the Slab escape sequence.

Additionally, previously reported issues with completing the "Infestation Operation" and the "Beast in the Bells" quests in the late game have been corrected, ensuring a smoother progression experience. Several gameplay bugs have been addressed as well: down-bouncing on specific projectiles will no longer cause the protagonist to become suspended mid-air, and deliveries from couriers in Act 3 will now be accessible as intended.

Adjustments have also been made to prevent the craft bind mechanic from behaving unpredictably during memory sequences and to correct soft-locks triggered during boss encounters. Players will benefit from additional refinements, such as Silk Snippers in the Chapel of the Reaper no longer becoming stuck out of bounds and a fix for the Claw Mirrors mechanic, which previously could leave the main character inverted under certain conditions.

Item rewards like rosaries and shell shards from the Snitch Pick will now be correctly distributed. Beyond bug fixes, Team Cherry is tweaking the gameplay balance: early-game bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter will receive a slight difficulty reduction, while the damage dealt by Sandcarvers has been scaled down.

Improvements extend to in-game economy systems, with a moderate decrease in the prices of mid-game Bellway and Bell Bench items and increased rosary rewards from relics, psalm cylinders, and courier deliveries. Aiming for ongoing stability, the patch also removes a redundant float override input for players already equipped with the Faydown Cloak and introduces a small adjustment to pea pod hit-boxes for better collision detection.

Team Cherry has assured their community that this update packs "various additional fixes and tweaks" to ensure Silksong continues to deliver a polished and rewarding experience on Nintendo Switch and beyond. With Hollow Knight Silksong now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop, the upcoming patch demonstrates Team Cherry’s proactive support and dedication to delivering a bug-free, balanced experience for fans.

Continue following for updates as Silksong evolves in response to player feedback and ongoing developer refinement.
