Tales of Xillia 2 Remastered Announced by Bandai Namco for Modern Consoles

Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially confirmed that Tales of Xillia 2 Remastered is currently in development, continuing their ongoing initiative to bring classic experiences from the acclaimed Tales of series to modern platforms like the Nintendo Switch.

The update was shared in a recent interview with Famitsu, in which Tales series producer Yusuke Tomizawa provided key insights into the company’s remastering strategy and the global performance of the franchise. The Remastered Project, spearheaded by Bandai Namco, focuses on updating beloved Tales entries for a new generation.

Notably, following the launch of Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, this initiative has delivered releases such as Tales of Symphonia Remastered, Tales of Graces f Remastered, and the highly anticipated Tales of Xillia Remastered, which is set for release on Nintendo Switch—both physically and digitally via the Nintendo eShop—on October 30, 2025. Addressing the Remastered Project's progress, Tomizawa explained to Famitsu that development of Tales of Xillia 2 Remastered remains ongoing.

He outlined that "two titles are presently advancing within the Remastered Project," with each game positioned at different stages, ranging from final checks to advanced development.

Tomizawa also stated that information about the next upcoming release will be shared in the near future, indicating a steady pace in Bandai Namco’s efforts to reinvigorate the series. Bandai Namco's remasters are not simply graphical upgrades; they often include quality-of-life improvements designed to appeal both to longtime fans and newcomers.

The company's strategic approach has widened access and exposure to the Tales franchise globally. Tomizawa also commented on the international reach of the Tales series, revealing that over 70 percent of the series' sales now originate from outside Japan.

He clarified that this global expansion does not reflect a decline in Japanese interest, but rather highlights the franchise's growing worldwide appeal and the advantages of diversified platform availability—pointing out that platforms such as the Nintendo Switch have facilitated broader audience engagement. As Bandai Namco prepares for the release of Tales of Xillia Remastered on October 30, 2025, anticipation continues to build for additional remastered projects, including Tales of Xillia 2 Remastered, which will further expand the Tales legacy on modern consoles.
