Niantic's mobile title Pikmin Bloom is running a month-long in-game event in July that adds new Decor Pikmin and event rewards for players on iOS and Android.
Pikmin Bloom, developed by Niantic in collaboration with Nintendo and first released in October 2021, continues to expand its live-service content with seasonal activities that reward walking and community play.
Event overview (July 1–31)
From July 1 at 12:00 a.m. through July 31 at 11:59 p.m. local time, Pikmin Bloom players can take part in Event Challenge missions to earn items including seedlings that grow into Tiny Instrument: Orchestra Decor Pikmin, Symphony Records, flower petals and other helpful supplies.
Niantic states that clearing Event Challenge missions yields random rewards and that when the Big Flower at the center of the stage blooms, players are guaranteed a Gold Seedling in addition to those random drops.
How to obtain Tiny Instrument: Orchestra Decor Pikmin
Players can earn seedlings that randomly grow into one of eight Tiny Instrument: Orchestra Decor Pikmin types by completing Event Challenge missions during the event window.
In journalistic terms: Niantic explains that every cleared Event Challenge grants a chance at in-game rewards, and the Big Flower's bloom guarantees an additional Gold Seedling for participants.
Additional missions and Symphony Records
Alongside Event Challenges, Pikmin Bloom offers extra missions aimed at collecting Symphony Records.
These missions allow players to choose rewards such as seedlings for Tiny Instrument: Brass Band Decor Pikmin, Ice Cream: Classic Decor Pikmin, and event-themed costumes for Mii characters.
Symphony Records are obtainable from Event Challenge rewards, planting flowers, Mystery Boxes dropped by Bizarre Mushrooms, and select shop purchases.
Niantic notes that Symphony Records and related missions will no longer be available after the event ends.
Bizarre Mushrooms and multiplayer weekends
During the July event players may encounter Bizarre Mushrooms that drop Mystery Boxes containing Symphony Records and other items.
Certain Pikmin types—Tiny Instrument: Orchestra, Tiny Instrument: Brass Band, and Ice Cream: Classic—deal extra damage to these mushrooms.
On selected weekends and two extra days at month’s end, players may face Giant Bizarre Mushrooms that drop rare Mystery Boxes; the Mushroom Battle Bullhorn can be used up to three times on those days to invite teammates.
Notes, requirements and safety
Niantic advises players to update Pikmin Bloom to app version 147 or later to see new Decor Pikmin correctly.
The game is free to start with optional in-app purchases; persistent internet and a compatible smartphone are required.
As with all location-based mobile games, Niantic reminds players to stay aware of their surroundings while playing.
Context in the Pikmin franchise
While Pikmin Bloom is mobile-only, the broader Pikmin franchise continues on Nintendo Switch with entries such as Pikmin 3 Deluxe (released October 30, 2020) and Pikmin 4 (released July 21, 2023), underscoring Nintendo's multiplatform presence for the series.
