Capcom Announces Onimusha 1+2 Pack and 'Hell Mode' Update for Nintendo Switch
Capcom is expanding its acclaimed samurai action franchise with the announcement of the Onimusha 1+2 Pack for Nintendo Switch, timed to coincide with the highly anticipated remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny.
As part of Capcom’s ongoing efforts to revitalize classic IPs for modern audiences, this bundle offers players a convenient way to experience both Onimusha: Warlords and Onimusha 2 on contemporary Nintendo hardware.
The Onimusha 1+2 Pack will launch digitally via the Nintendo eShop on May 23, 2025, the same day Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny makes its remastered debut for Nintendo Switch.
While pre-orders for the bundle are not currently available, Capcom has confirmed that early buyers of the pack will receive an exclusive album selection bonus—identical to the incentive offered with purchases of Onimusha 2.
Pricing details remain undisclosed, and Capcom has yet to announce any plans for a physical edition of the compilation.
In a significant update for fans of the original game, Capcom revealed that Onimusha: Warlords will soon receive a free update introducing a new 'Hell Mode'.
This punishing difficulty setting, rolling out to Nintendo Switch and other available platforms this week, dramatically increases the challenge: players will face immediate defeat upon taking a single hit.
According to game director Motohide Eshiro, 'Hell Mode' is designed for those seeking the ultimate test of skill, pushing even veteran players to their limits.
The same intense mode is also scheduled for Onimusha 2 as part of its upcoming remaster, ensuring consistency in challenge across both titles.
The Onimusha series, developed and published by Capcom, originally debuted in 2001 and became a landmark action-adventure franchise for the PlayStation 2.
The Nintendo Switch remaster of Onimusha: Warlords was first released on January 15, 2019, bringing modernized controls and updated visuals to new audiences.
Capcom's renewed focus on the series is part of a broader strategy that has seen classic franchises reimagined for today's platforms, catering both to nostalgic long-time fans and to newcomers discovering these legendary adventures for the first time.
With the dual launch of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny and the Onimusha 1+2 Pack, along with the addition of the challenging 'Hell Mode', Capcom is reaffirming its commitment to delivering enduring and memorable experiences on Nintendo Switch.
More details, including exact pricing, are expected closer to the bundle’s release via the Nintendo eShop.
