Nintendo has officially confirmed that preorders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 24, 2025, in both the United States and Canada.
This announcement comes after a previous delay in preorder availability, which was originally impacted by ongoing U.S.
tariff uncertainty.
Following changes in trade policies that postponed additional tariffs on electronics, Nintendo is moving forward with its North American release plans.
The Nintendo Switch 2, which follows the widely successful Nintendo Switch, has been one of the most anticipated hardware launches in recent years.
In its official statement, Nintendo clarified that the suggested retail price will remain unchanged for North American buyers: $449.99 USD for the Switch 2 base model, and $499.99 USD for a bundle that includes the highly awaited Mario Kart World.
First-party software pricing is also set, with Mario Kart World launching at $79.99 USD, while the newest Donkey Kong adventure, Donkey Kong Bananza, will retail for $69.99 USD.
These prices will apply to both physical copies and their digital counterparts available through the Nintendo eShop.
In a revised statement, a Nintendo spokesperson explained that while main console and game prices are stable, accessory pricing will be updated from original April 2 announcements.
The adjustment, they noted, is due to recent changes in market conditions impacting materials and distribution costs.
The statement also underscored that future product and pricing adjustments for Nintendo hardware and software may occur in response to evolving market dynamics, and consumers are advised to check the official Nintendo website (www.nintendo.com) for the latest information.
While Nintendo often reserves the right to adjust prices as market factors change, this year’s evolving economic environment in the U.S.
has made such flexibility especially pertinent.
With Nintendo Switch 2 preorders only days away, anticipation is high among North American players.
Buyers hoping to secure a launch unit are advised to register their interest on Nintendo.com, as demand is expected to be significant and opportunistic resellers may quickly snap up available stock.
Since its global debut in 2017, the original Nintendo Switch has achieved milestone sales of over 130 million units, making it one of the best-selling consoles in history.
Nintendo aims to build on this legacy with Switch 2, promising improved hardware capabilities and a robust launch library.
As details emerge from official Nintendo Direct broadcasts and press releases, fans can count on more information about upcoming games, additional bundles, and continued eShop updates leading up to the Switch 2's release.
