Nintendo is preparing for what analysts predict may be the largest console debut in gaming history with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
According to industry sources and financial experts, this next-generation Nintendo hardware is anticipated to command a higher price point than any previous Nintendo system, with projections starting at $400 or more.
A recent Bloomberg report features perspectives from analysts who interact closely with Nintendo and its network of software and hardware partners.
They suggest the Nintendo Switch 2, now nearing its official announcement, will debut at a premium price—potentially impacted further by US tariffs that could increase manufacturing costs and weigh on Nintendo’s profit margins.
Tokyo-based industry analyst Serkan Toto commented that the Switch 2 is likely to achieve exceptional sales during its initial months, irrespective of its price.
Toto remarked that consumers can expect a compelling first-year software lineup, including much-anticipated titles such as a new Mario Kart, a fresh 3D Mario installment—the first in eight years—as well as Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4.
He also emphasized that third-party game support is expected from launch, noting the probable presence of global hits like Call of Duty.
Macquarie Capital’s Hiroshi Yamashina echoed these sentiments, forecasting the retail price could range between $399 and $449.
Meanwhile, Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda suggested that costs may climb as high as $499, placing the Nintendo Switch 2 firmly in the premium console bracket.
Bloomberg’s industry sources further report that Nintendo is targeting an ambitious launch window, with between 6 million and 8 million units allocated for the initial day of sales.
Should these figures hold true, it would secure the Nintendo Switch 2 the distinction of the biggest console launch ever.
Official details regarding the Nintendo Switch 2’s price, release date, and launch catalog are expected during Nintendo’s scheduled broadcast in April.
These authoritative predictions continue a trend first identified in February, indicating the console’s price would begin around $400.
As the company builds momentum towards launch, all eyes remain on Nintendo and its proven track record of industry-defining platforms and globally celebrated franchises.
For fans and industry watchers, the Nintendo Switch 2 promises to be not just a new console, but a landmark event in gaming.
Stay tuned for further updates following Nintendo’s announcements this April.
